Educational. Entertaining. Unforgettable.
Welcome to our site. Here you will find programs for schools and a host of other venues, featuring live performances by an inspiring musician who is also a passionate teacher. Our longest running program, Musical Origins, has been presented to classes from all over the west for over two decades. You and your group will never forget this one-of-a-kind encounter with music through the ages, as Sue Carney of the Oregon Shakespeare Festival shares her wealth of knowledge about music, history and the universe- while delivering a tour de force performance on over a dozen historic instruments. Check out our newest addition- The Shakespeare Songbook. This program is especially for those who study Shakespeare and his works. The focus is on Songs and Sonnets, which spring to life with new clarity when they are sung, instead of read. We are also offering 5-10 day Residencies to a few select school partners. Each residency is custom designed, so no two are ever alike, but usually the focus is on enriching the entire school, or providing greater immersion for target groups.
We're just getting started here, so be sure to sign up and join our community of teachers, students, musicians and others who share a love of music. Check out the Blog, and stay tuned- in the next few weeks we'll be adding a Resource Center, full of supplementary articles, class materials, music tips, recommended books and recordings...and more. For more information, go to Programs. Each program comes with a free consultation and scheduling session to make sure you get exactly what you need for your group. You can start that process by going to Bookings, and telling us a little about who you are, and what your group is looking for. We look forward to hearing from you soon- Sue's dates are limited, and appearances are scheduled on a "first come" basis. Don't delay, or you may miss out!
Sue is best known for her work as a composer, producer, and performer at the acclaimed Oregon Shakespeare Festival, where she has been regularly commissioned to create music for theater, dance, and video productions for over 25 years. She is also a director and founding member of the Terra Nova Consort, an early music ensemble dedicated to exploring the roots of today's world music.
